Fury, a former British and European heavyweight champion, reached the pinnacle of world boxing in 2015 and won the WBC title in 2020 with a win over Deontay Wilder. He defeated Francis Ngannou in October 2023, although he suffered a knockdown that delayed his meeting with Usyk.
Usyk, a 2012 Olympic gold medalist, became the WBO cruiserweight champion in 2016 and the undisputed champion in 2018. He moved up to heavyweight in 2019 and defeated Anthony Joshua in September 2021 to win the WBA, IBF and WBO titles. In their previous fight, Usyk won, but later gave up the title, which was later won by Daniel Dubois, defeating Joshua.
