Bivol vs Beterbiev fight in Russia: third fight may take place in Moscow!

The long-awaited third fight between Russian superstar boxers Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev may take place in Moscow. The parties are discussing the possibility of organizing the decisive fight of their trilogy in the fall of 2025 at the main arena of the Luzhniki stadium.

However, this information immediately raises serious questions for at least two reasons. Firstly, if we are talking about the open arena of Luzhniki, then the period October-November looks extremely unsuitable for a large-scale boxing show in the Moscow climate. Secondly, the rights to hold the fight belong to an influential promoter - Turki Al ash-Sheikh, the head of the Saudi Arabian Entertainment Authority (GEA). It is Saudi Arabia that has hosted the most high-profile and expensive boxing events in recent years.

Russian promoters have managed to reach a preliminary agreement with Al ash-Sheikh. The key argument was the desire of the boxers themselves - Bivol and Beterbiev - to hold the final fight of their confrontation in the Russian capital.

Let's recall the history of their fierce rivalry: on October 12, 2024, the first fight took place, in which Beterbiev won by a majority decision. On February 22, 2025, Bivol won the rematch. Interestingly, the judges' scorecards in the second fight turned out to be a mirror image of the first - with the same score, but in Bivol's favor. As a result, both boxers became absolute light heavyweight champions once. However, this status will not be played out in the third fight: Bivol, focusing on the trilogy, refused to defend the mandatory WBC title and was stripped of the belt several months ago.

Despite the absence of all the championship belts that were at stake in the first two meetings, the third fight between Bivol and Beterbiev will certainly be a grand event for Russian boxing. And if the organizers manage to implement their ambitious plan and hold the final chord of their trilogy in Moscow, the scale of the event will be truly historic.
